Welcome!

Hello and welcome to The Year Long Vintage/Recycled clothing challenge

The challenge/premise: For an entire year, challenge yourself to only buy used clothing. This includes vintage, thrift, consignment, and hand me downs.

The rules/exceptions: Some things you can't or shouldn't choose to buy recycled. Ex- underwear.

So the few exceptions to this challenge would be:

-underwear

-socks

-bathing suits

-nylons, tights, and other intimates

-pyjamas and other sleeping attire.

When does it begin?

As a collective, the challenge should formally begin May 1st, but feel free to begin now or whenever you feel like it.

Benefits:

-Help save the environment.

-Take a stand against sweat shops and big box corporations.

-SAVE MONEY!

Suggestions:

-Browse your fav. vintage stores to find unique pieces such as t-shirts, blazers, dresses, shoes etc. Let the vintage pickers do the work for you.

-Roam through your grandmother's closet. It's a sure fire way to find something inspiring.

-Swap clothes with your friends.

-Check out garage sales, yard sales, flee markets, antique malls.

-Support your local consignment shops.

-Re-worked vintage is fare game. Get something custom made just for you.

-Check out thrift: Value Village, Goodwill, Salvation Army etc.

-Check out places like Etsy, Kijiji, Craigslist and other vintage sites that will be posted in the future.

Let's take this journey together! Here we can post cool places to find recycled clothing, our struggles and triumphs, and photos and videos of awesome pickings.

Maybe if you like this idea, you can transfer it over to other aspects of your life like books, furniture, kitchen items, etc.
